Business Analytics and Big Data Track

The Business Analytics and Big Data track is dedicated to explore and understand the role of business analytics and big data in deriving insights on business operation and decision-making creating value. Business analytics include all forms of data analytics, optimisation and simulation modelling developed for decision making in businesses. Similar to business analytics, big data analytics refers to the capability of organisations for systematic and computational analysis of big data sets, popularly characterised by 5Vs, i.e. volume, velocity, variety, veracity and value adding.

Big data analytics as an interdisciplinary field of study includes methods, processes and systems that extract insights from various forms of structured and unstructured data. It is a valuable tool for businesses, governments and individuals by assisting them in understanding organisational complexities and making more informed decisions. It has emerged as a major area of emphasis within information systems and employs the applications of statistics and machine learning in organisational context.

This track will focus on publishing original research papers dealing with business and big data analytics conceptualisation, theoretical knowledge expansion and its real-world application. This issue particularly welcomes studies on the topic of analysing open data or publically available large datasets. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
